I was looking at a Hyundai Elantra 2006 with 21,000 miles on it. Kelley blue book for it is 12,400. I have bad credit, so I know I would have a finance charge of atleast 19%. Well the finance manager came out to talk with me and told me that they could finance me and it would cost me 381 a month for 72 months! That would mean that I would be paying 27k for this car that is worth 12k! I told him no way, I did the math before I came and I averaged 11,800 with 21% for 48 months and it came out close to 341. He then told me that he had to pay the bank a fee to finance me?? Is that true? I thought the bank payed the dealer?! So I got really mean and told them forget it. They wouldn't let me leave, claiming that they were giving me a deal. I flipped and pissed them off so they let me leave. How do I get an honest salesman? Help.....

I found a 1999 VW Beetle on Craigslist that is at a used car dealer about 35 minutes away from me. It is white, automatic, 116K miles, alloy wheels, leather seats, power windows, locks & mirror, Alarm, AM/FM Cassette & CD (don't know if it's a single or multi player), remote entry. That's all it listed on the ad. I ran a carfax report & it shows only 1 owner, 2.0L L4 SFI SOHC 8V / Front Wheel Drive, power brakes, tilt steering wheel, A/C, dual front airbags....it also shows it's passed all it's SMOGS & 01/08/04 it shows the vehicle, engine & brakes were serviced....no recalls, accidents or problems, etc.Kelley Blue Book shows that the dealer can charge $8105 & that doesn't include the alarm & remote entry (which is not listed on the KBB site to check off). Dealer listed the car on Craigslist (& when I called they said it was correct) for $4995 Priced to sell fast. It's almost 1/2 the KBB price. What do you think? I'm going to test drive this weekend. Also I saw another from aa private seller, 1999 100K miles, red, manual transmission, 1.9L L4 FI / Front Wheel drive, power steering & brakes, A/C, AM/FM Cassette, tilt steering wheel, dual airbags, new tires states you can get 45 to 50 MPG as it is a rare diesel. im trying to sell a 1997 oldsmobile cutlass and a 1995 ford escort .. i am a fair person and would not want to sell any one a bad car, with that being said my oldsmobile cutlass has the check engine light on.. could i still sell this car and if so i was going to only ask for 1,800 since the check engine light is on.The kelly blue book for good is 1,950. Other then that the body and the interior are in excellent condition it also has a new cd player in it tha costed $140.. as for the ford it is the same way (it has a check engine light on as well so i was going to sell it for 1,250 it runs but makes a loud noise when it runs its body is in excellent shape and the interior is in good shape but the window in the back doesnt wind all the way down. and it also had a new cd player cost 100. I was in a pretty bad car accident in which my car was violently rear-ended, and the police found the other party at fault. The car is pretty darn bad, but technically reparable. There were some injuries from the people in my vehicle.The car is worth about $15,000 according to Kelley Blue Book (Toyota Yaris, almost a year old with approximately 11,000 miles). The place chosen by the other party's insurance company gave the estimate for fixing the car to be between $10,000 and $11,000. Because that's more than half the value of the car, said insurance company wants to declare it totaled, and (despite it being reparable) wants to pay us the value of the car instead of just paying to repair it, probably because if they don't fix it, they get to auction it for parts (almost all of which are fine, just the frame, doors and seats were messed up it seems) and keep the money. They're also trying to tell us that the car is worth about $2,000 less than it actually is.If we declare the car totaled, they make money off of the parts and we're out several thousand dollars because of what we paid for it plus interest versus the flat-out current value. If we get them to just pay to fix the darn thing, they pay less to us, but they don't get money from the auction. If they did fix it, though, we have a car and aren't paying thousands for a car we don't even have thanks to THEIR client.We'd obviously rather not be still making payments on a car we wouldn't have as a result of the money the insurance company gives us being less than we still owe.Is there any way to get them to fix it instead of the alternative?

In a grand theft/motor vehicle case (in Florida) is there anyway a defendant can request that the victim's insurance provide a statement of the amount the car was worth? Can the defendant contact the victim and ask him questions (For example: Did you have insurance? Did your insurance already pay you for the car? How much?) Restitution was already determined and defendant is on probation. Motion to modify probation has been filed and the amount of the car is the main thing in question. (Orignal restitution was based on victim's Kelley Blue Book print-out) Also, if the victim has already been paid for his car by his insurance company, can he also receive the amount of the restitution? I have a 1995 pontiac grand prix in great condition. The Kelley Blue Book suggested retail value is around $3,000, the private party value is around $2,000. I have put new tires on and a new Sony $150 cd/radio. The only thing is that it may need a new windshield, I am driving it currently with a large crack across the bottom of the windshield, so it is still drivable but will need replaced in time. With this problem, how much Should I sell this car for? Okay so on Tuesday a tree fell on my husbands Durango. He is in Iraq so i am stuck dealing with this. The tree was on my landlords property and it was rotten. I got a dent in my car about 2/3" deep & about 4 inches wide that starts around the back of the back door & continues onto another sheet of metal just on the other side of the door. To put it simply, the rock that hit it hit right where the back door opens. It also scratched the car up a little & it's been a few months so there's some rust where the scuff is. It isn't spreading & rusting the paint off, but it still doesn't look to good. So I was just wondering about how much it will cost to get it fixed at a local repair shop. I plan on selling my car & buying a cheaper one, & the Kelley Blue Book priced it at $5,640 as is est. for trade in, & $6,870 if I fix the dent & a few other small things that shouldn't cost more than $150-200 at most. I have replaced a few things and I still have an EPC and check engine light on (which means it can't pass smog, and it was due in December) and the car idles a bit bad all the time. I was planning on selling it before I was in an accident. The kelley blue book value for this car, before the accident was $5,700. Im trying to buy another car and I need to get as much out of this as I can. I dont have full insurance on it so my damage is not covered. It is basically a total loss unless someone is willing to buy. I have seen many of these still on the road so I suppose there is still a possible market for the parts. There is no damage to the engine. In the picture it looks like the hood is damaged but it is just opened. Also the milage is 140,000. It is not previously salvaged and it has a recently rebuilt power steering pump.ThanksI dont intend to sell it to someone to fix. I mean for parts.

The accident was totally the other persons' fault. Their insurance paid for the repair but I am told that they should also pay for "Depreciation Value". Looking at the Kelley Blue Book car values - my vehicle is now worth less by about $800 since the car is now considered "Good" value and not "Excellent" value as it was before the accident. I have a 2003 Mazda 6, and I owe about 3500.00 on it. Kelley Blue Book value is around 5000.00 trade in. I have a really low monthly payment (170.00/month), and I have about 130k miles on it. Absolutely nothing is wrong with the car, but I am ready for a new one and am wondering if it would be a good move to go ahead and trade it in. I commute to work (about an hour to and from work 14 days out of the month), so I rack up alot of miles and alot of wear/tear, although I take really good car of my cars. I just needed some suggestions.

Can I sue a drunk driver for hitting my parked car? Last night a guy hit my parked car and flipped his own. The cops came and hand cuffed him. It looked to be a DUI. The car isn't his, it's his girlfriends. Anyways my car may be totaled. Can I sue her for inconvenience and monetary losses. Since I now have to purchase a brand new car and open a new 5 loan. My car is worth 16000 on Kelley Blue Book and I still owe 7000 on my totaled car. What are my options. Please help!
